Horsey Happiness is... advice, choice & value

Welcome to Fieldgate Cottage and Happy Hacker! It's wonderful to finally be 'live' after many months of sourcing suppliers, loading product and arranging the launch of our new company.

My desire is to help everyone get the most from their horsey habit. Therefore it was absolutely critical to me to create a shopping experience which was not only easy, quick and fun while offering great value, but most importantly helpful. One of the downsides of having so much choice these days is how on earth you decide what's best for your needs. I hope you find the advice from Larry useful and that it helps you to make the right choice of product, whether you’re looking for tack or clothing.

At the risk of forgetting my manners, let me introduce you to life at Fieldgate Cottage! We have a range of feathered, furred and hoofed friends and there really is never a dull moment! Click on About Us to see some pictures and short introductions.

But as well as the animals we love, unfortunately we also have some unwanted visitors......Mr Fox being one in particular. Despite our new sturdy hen house and pen and of course two vigilant labs - who are excellent at raising the alarm - our foxy enemy got the better of us. But this time, in addition to chasing off Mr. Fox, Scooby and Shaggy also retrieved the stolen turkey. But no doubt with hungry cubs to feed we know he’ll be back, so we need to be extra careful. We really don’t want any more additions to the pet cemetery under our apple trees. It's the joys of country life I guess.

On a happier note spring has definitely sprung and we have three turkey chicks hatched by our friendly 'chicken man' Mr Perkins. Our broody turkey – Joan – is sitting on six eggs, so we will let everyone know how successful she is around the 5th May.

The ponies are all well, but we are watching the grass carefully, as Holly eats for England given the chance. We constantly fear a case of laminitis, so our grazing management is absolutely rigid, much to Holly's dismay, as she is less than gracious when she's brought in! With the lighter evenings and the warmer weather the whole family is able to get out and ride more and we’re looking forward to the local horse shows and gymkhanas. The boys are keen to increase their display of rosettes.

Finally I would like to thank family and friends who have helped and supported me so far. This really is just the beginning and over the coming weeks and months our range will keep on increasing. Watch out for our regular special offers too.

I hope you enjoy your Happy Hacker shopping experience and come back and visit us soon.
